Nestled among olive trees, vineyards, fruit orchards, macchia and forest on the hills above Poreč in Croatia, House Alisia was conceived as tranquil holiday retreat away from the commotion of the country’s popular tourist destinations. Located in Istria a region known to the Romans as Terra Magica, where the pride of cultivating the land remains up to this day. Its Ancient hill towns, clear blue sea and a rich history are only a few of the peninsula’s attractions.
ALISIA family home seamlessly combines
the requirements of modern living with
the setting’s agricultural heritage.
House Alisia is a delightful old stone built property set in a small village. The use of natural materials continues in the interior of the house: Clay bricks pavement defines the common areas on the ground floor, while natural wood and exposed oak beams on the second floor create a warm sensation.
On the ground floor, a living and dining space is centred by the wooden doors that open up onto the garden. An open space inside has the quaint charm of "old fashioned" way to get everyone together. Either creating a delicious meal or a relaxing game of cards after breakfast. A grand fireplace is the focal point of the lounge area.
Upstairs, the two bedrooms are separated from the lower area with the wooden staircase, that invite us for a daily nap or daydreaming with our favorite book, song or podcast.
Each bedroom offers a very comfortable and cushy double bed.
The building’s southern orientation maximizes the amount of sunlight that enters the interiors during the day, while the traditional stone walls keep the house cool in the summer.
The open garden functions as the house’s hub where guests can hang out day and night. A neatly equipped kitchen next to the garden, makes it easy for guests to enjoy meals outdoors in the shades surrounded by old stone wall or under the sunshine. Sun beds will take care for a nice tan, as the bolstered 3corner bench under the tree will be the perfect match for a lazy afternoon. Hammocks are on site as well for a gentle swing.
Setting the fireplace is a great way to enjoy an al fresco meal before the sun sets. The clear nights will feel amazing with a refreshing drink.
